Account access authentication process

A step-by-step process to authenticate your account access on principal.com1

Step 1 You’ll receive an email from Principal in mid-January that includes a link to begin the authentication process.

Step 2 Follow a series of steps to activate your account access including:

Establishing security questions

Step 3 Set up your two-factor authentication and store backup codes provided in case you lose access to your device.

To be certain you receive the account set-up email, add these addresses to your Safe Senders List or by alerting your IT team. This email will come from one of the following two email addresses: webrequest@exchange.principal.com or theprincipalfinancialgroup@exchange.principal.com

1 If you already have an account with Principal® (tied to another product), you’ll use the same username and password you’ve already established to log in. You won’t need to go through the authentication process.
